In the fall of 2006 Alix McCauley launched a custom clothing line that fused her passion for comfort, style, and simplicity with her beautifully unique designs. Alix and her family now introduce a ready to wear line of beautiful casual knit clothing. A line that is built for layering, while incorporating a stylish edge. Based in Sebastopol California, the current production is all handmade with an objective to maintain the highest standards in socially responsible methods of production. Treehouse28 offers a sustainable solution to fashion. The use of organic, recycled materials and low impact practices help keep our planet healthy and strong for generations to come.
The organic cotton used at Treehouse 28 is grown in Turkey, certified SKAL, and milled in a longstanding organic fabric mill in Canada. There is a small amount of spandex in the fabric, usually less than 9%, which gives it the top quality stretch, the small percentage in the fabric means it can be washed in cold water, no dryer is needed and no wrinkling, so no ironing is required, making Treehouse 28 clothing perfect for traveling and for children. Treehouse 28 offers a sustainable solution to fashion. Not only does our product offer the basic benefits associated with low impact manufacturing our product has a very strong after purchase life cycle. No ironing, no dryer and cold water wash make our product a low-impact after-purchase product with a long life cycle due to high quality fabrics and stitching.
Treehouse 28 Inc. is dedicated to becoming a leading locally produced clothing line that promotes the use of organic cotton and non-organic cotton with low-impact practices for its products. Our entire line is designed from a cotton/spandex mix, giving us the ability to to use our materials proficiently and minimize waste. Our product is produced in-house using locally sourced materials where possible, we are conscious of the carbon footprint of our fabric. We are primarily an internet based company so the waste involved in the fashion retail model is avoided. We are a family owned and run business; our goal is to become a local equal opportunity employer, offering fair market salary and company ownership incentives for our workers. Even in the first year of growing the company, we have worked with local talent to help develop our website, clothing patterns and grading as well as local marketing and business consultants.
